This ideal location was a discovery, even though Osteria 46 has been there since 2007, in an area just outside Acqui Terme, practically a park, within which lies this large structure (once a small chapel). It's a relaxing place. The young Daniele Sbaraini, chef and all-rounder of this osteria, manages à la carte dinners with a certain originality and passion, as well as birthday parties and outdoor gatherings in the space he happens to have available. It was a surprise to meet him, in many ways, as this young man is appreciated even beyond the region's borders. He has an excellent wine selection, worthy of a true host, and a menu that gives you an idea: a fixed menu, but also a changing dish (of the day) that makes the most of the daily shopping. The place is also intimate, with appropriate lighting that puts both the couple and the group of friends in a good mood.
We start with the mixed antipasti (the veal with tuna sauce is delicious and plentiful), or, immediately, with the Roccaverano robiola cheese served with mustard. The homemade gnocchi with Roccaverano cream and pine nuts are flavorful, soft, and well-made, but the fusilli with gorgonzola and radicchio, or the ever-present traditional ravioli, are also delicious. For second courses, the meat is a sure bet, grilled or served with green peppercorns, if it's sirloin steak. The Acqui-style stockfish is delicious, and there are also the strips of meat sautéed with radicchio. The homemade desserts round out the meal: tarte tatin, semifreddo with toasted almonds, and hazelnut cake. The price is fair, and everyone will be satisfied. Worth a visit.
