Nestled in the lowland of the extreme south of the province of Alessandria the Ligurian influence and painted palaces amaze.

Novi Ligure is a fascinating town, full of history, which embeds its roots in antiquity.

Already known in Roman tmes, the town developed as an important and strategic trading center due to its position along the Via Postumia, one of the major routes of the time.

Today, Novi Ligure is a town which maintains a perfect balance between modernity and tradition.

The historic center is characterised by welcoming squares, picturesque streets and fascinating historical buildings, which bear witness to its glorious past. It is also home to one of the most important cycling museums "il Museo dei Campionissimi", dedicated to the cyclists Fausto Coppi and Costante Girardengo.

A characteristic which distinguishes the town of Novi Ligure from others, are undoubtedly its painted Palaces. Walking through the historic center looking upwards you can admire the many painted Palaces dating to the different eras.

Novi Ligure is also an excellent starting point to explore the magnificent surrounding nature, with its hills, forests and nature parks, which offer numerous opportunities for walks and outdoor activities.

To take advantage of the natural beauties, an ideal destination is the nature park of Val Borbera and Spinti, especially popular with walkers, trekkers, mountain bikers and anglers. The presence of forests and mountain trails offer numerous routes for lovers of nature and outdoor sport.

This is home to one of the most important trails, the 'cammino dei ribelli', designed to make past history known, with its stone houses perched in the small villages.

The Val Borbera extends along the River Borbera, which attracts many visitors thanks to its crystal-clear waters.

Moving on to food and wine, the cuisine is influenced by that of the nearby Liguria, bearing witness to its past history when the area was under the control of the Genoese.
