The Civic Theater of Tortona is a neoclassical architectural gem designed by the engineer Pietro Pernigotti of Tortona and built between 1836 and 1838
The theater has a horse-shoe shape with three tiers of boxes and a gallery.
The interior is finely decorated with pictorial friezes and stuccoes, and the curtain, work of the painter Luigi Vacca, depicts the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.
Declared unfit for use and closed down in 1952, the theater was reopened in 1990 following careful restoration work.
Today, the Civic Theater continues to be an important cultural center for the city, hosting a variety of prose, music and theater performances for young people.

The ticket office of the Civic Theater is open from Tuesday to Friday from 4 pm to 7 pm.
On show evenings, the ticket office is open from one hour before the show starting time.
For shows on Saturday and Sunday, the ticket office will be open from 5 pm.
