S. Lorenzo is a hamlet in the municipality of Ovada, nestled in the hills. This area has historically been renowned for the production of Dolcetto di Ovada and the search for highly prized white truffles. In the past, it was a territory of bandits, a history shared with that of Rocca Grimalda. S. Lorenzo is the birthplace of the Venerable Mother Maria Teresa Camera, where she completed the founding of the Sisters of Mercy in Ovada. The house where she was born still stands in the hamlet. The church of San Lorenzo is striking, simple in structure yet nestled in a picturesque landscape, surrounded by the Ligurian countryside and mountains. The area is dotted with hamlets and farms.
