Established in 2004, the Cabinet of Ancient and Modern Prints of the City of Alessandria's mission is to preserve, exhibit, and promote the rich heritage of its ancient, modern, and contemporary graphic art collections through a project to collect and catalog donations and
loans of graphic works (engravings, lithographs, woodcuts, silkscreens, and more) by artists from Alessandria and Piedmont.

The drawers, which were moved to the "F. Calvo" Civic Library in February 2024, currently house over 2,500 sheets of modern prints, alongside prints from the 16th,
17th, and 18th centuries. There is also a Napoleonic Collection consisting of geographical maps marked with the deployments of the armies, particularly those of the Battle of Marengo. The Collection also includes seven engravings based on drawings by the Turin landscape painter Giuseppe Pietro Bagetti (1764-1831).

This is a continually growing collection. In 2023, the collection was enriched with illustrations of Napoleonic history by the Alessandria lawyer Andrea Ferrari, donated by the family
to the City of Alessandria.

The Prints and Drawings Cabinet is accessible by reservation only. Appointments can be made by calling 0131 515 910.
