The origins of the Osimo pharmacy, with an address of 15, Corso Roma, is one of the oldest pharmacies of Alessandria. Recent studies have shown that it dates back to 1429 as Farmacia dell’Ospedale Nuovo in the Rovereto neighborhood, in contrada Capo di Villa. During the Renaissance, from 1849, it belongs to Doctor Nicola Celso and is located in a place called Ospedale Vecchio, Isola di Sant’Antonio, a short distance from its current location. In 1879, it is taken over by Dr. Giuseppe Moccafighe and in 1903 the pharmacy moves to number 5 of the main street, today 15, and is purchased by the pharmacist Bianchi with the help of two partners. The next owner, Dr. Carlo Grasso, sells it to his colleague Ferruccio Osimo in 1913. This is the period of significant renovation of the premises. Doctor Osimo, faithful to his origins, renews the interiors transforming the counter and wardrobes with furnishings and materials that recall a Jewish minaret. Dr. Marcello Pittaluga, president of the Order of Pharmacists for many years, purchased it in 1987 from the heirs of Dr. Alfredo Bettucchi and completely renovates it, restoring it to its original appearance.
