In the heart of the Casale Monferrato, Rosignano Monferrato welcomes you in every season with breathtaking hilly views, art trails, excellent wines, and high-quality food and artisanal products, which have earned it the Orange Flag award from the Italian Touring Club.

Since 2014, along with eight other municipalities, Rosignano has been part of "The Monferrato of the Infernots," a component of the UNESCO site "The Vineyard Landscapes of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato." The Infernots are fascinating spaces carved by man into the Pietra da Cantoni stone, true works of art.

After an initial mention around the year 1000, the first documents on Rosignano are the statutes, completed in 1306, which document the birth of the free municipality around 1250. Since then, with varying fortunes, it has governed
its own laws and magistrates. Its history mirrors the history of Monferrato, featuring the Alerami, Paleologi, and Gonzaga families, each of whom asserted its full autonomy, and finally the Savoy and French, until the unification of Italy. A glorious and turbulent centuries-long history, linked to the town's strategic position, the "sentinel of Casale," a permanent garrison station. It has been besieged, occupied, and sacked several times, with the notable exception of April 21, 1640, when civic pride combined with strong religious tension prevailed over the Spanish attackers. On the rock stands the castle, guarding the historic center with its monuments, and descending to the Airali, once the homes of the common people. Thus the vast municipal territory, whose boundaries, with modest adjustments, date back to 1339, holds pleasant surprises: the two castles, Uviglie, flanked by the empty glimpses of the long-dug hill, and San Bartolomeo in the Colma region, from which the Via Angelo Morbelli begins, leading to the house of the great Pointillist painter.

On the opposite hill, the parish church of San Martino emerges, the most populous hamlet, home to the "V. Luparia" Agricultural Institute. Then there are Stevani, Garriano, Berroni with the charming country church of San Pietro in Vincoli, Reali, Brenta, Varacca, and Castagnoni: these are the names of the largest villages, while an extraordinary number of farmhouses, many of which appear in ancient land registers, dot the undulating municipal territory.

Rosignano Monferrato, whose capital is perched on a hill, boasts a vast territory spread across numerous hamlets. Explore the area through the installations on the Angelo Morbelli Trail (a tribute to the famous Pointillist painter), ideally starting from Uviglie Castle or Villa Maria (the artist's summer residence), or the Museo Contadino Diffuso (Wine Civilization Museum). The Town Hall houses two Infernots, and the "Rosso Grignolino" Big Bench has been installed in a panoramic position near the little church of Madonna delle Grazie.
