Located in the Curone Valley, on the Museglia stream, at the foot of Mount Giarolo. It is part of the territory of the Four Provinces.
Home to an important 13th-century parish church, upon which all the parishes in the valley depended, it was a fiefdom of the Frascaroli marquises.
Montacuto boasts the remains of the castle, rebuilt in the 17th century and later abandoned, and the church of San Pietro, rebuilt in Baroque style in the 17th century.
