A hilltop bastion overlooking the picturesque Vercelli Plain, across the Po River, the village is dominated by the ancient castle, occupied several times during the 17th-century wars and transformed into a country residence in the 18th century, before undergoing a radical restoration beginning in the early 20th century. Gabiano is also home to the Historical Museum of the Alpine Troops, with material and extensive documentation from their inception to the Second World War.
