Located on the right bank of the Borbera stream, a tributary of the River Scrivia, Borghetto Borbera is 39 km from Alessandria and 295 m above sea level.

The area of the municipality of Borghetto Borbera is one of the most enchanting of Piedmont; going up the valley, rolling green hills leave space to a rugged and rocky environment furrowed by the waters of the Borbera stream.
The hills, which can be dated back to 26-5 million years ago, in the Miocene epoch, are of a different formation: the soft contours of the hills recall clayey marl, rocks formed by clay and limestone of marine origin, due to the sediment of dead organisms at the bottom of the sea; others originate from sandstone, sand which has transformed into compact rock over time.
