The store on via San Lorenzo was opened in 1979, when Marco Mitrale, who already owned a farm in Frugarolo and a slaughterhouse in Pavone, decides to open a store specializing in pork in what was at the time the market road par excellence. “Bottega del maiale” was the name of the business, which wanted to differentiate itself from those managed by other traders of the area that sold other meat and cheese. In the late Seventies, you purchase livestock and slaughter it, as the Mitrale have always done.
Matteo Marco Mitrale is the current owner, the son of Marco, the first owner, who died in 2016. Today he manages a store which is called “Bottega delle eccellenze”, as it sells wine, egg pasta and jarred produce of local family-run companies. For a couple of years it has introduced the sale of dry-aged meat. First regional, then from all over the world.
