This parish church was likely built on a pre-existing Roman temple dedicated to Diana, evidence of which can be found in the materials used for the masonry. It was consecrated by Pope Paschal II in 1110, while passing through the town on his way back from France. Destroyed by Barbarossa, it was rebuilt in its current form around 1576. It has an original neo-Gothic façade with "bands," but more importantly, it retains an 11th-century Romanesque apse in reasonable condition. It is completed by a 16th-century bell tower.
