Associazione Archivio Piero Leddi was founded in April 2014 with the aim of
managing and
promoting the rich and varied cultural heritage left by the artist, making it
accessible to the public on a non-profit basis.
The Archive has two locations:
- Milan is home to the Archive’s headquarters, located in Via Piranesi. By appointment,
the site welcomes students, researchers, and enthusiasts. The collection includes approximately 3800 drawings,
as well as manuscripts, photographs, monographs, catalogs, rare and antique books, and
graphic works;
- in San Sebastiano Curone, the Municipality’s desire to host a significant part of the collection,
together with the Archive’s willingness to make the artist’s heritage more accessible in his home town,
led to an agreement for the free use of the Casa del Principe Doria. This magnificent 18th-century
noble residence was made available to the Association by the Municipality under an agreement signed in May 2015 and recently renewed.
Piero Leddi was born in San Sebastiano Curone in 1930 and moved to Milan in the 1950s, where he died
in 2016. He played an important role in the development of Italian art in the post-war period, exploring a wide range of social, historical and human themes.
His work reflected on the encounter
with the modern city, as well as on the traditional rural world and its gradual disappearance.
One of the subjects he explored was Fausto Coppi, a symbol of the peasant world and of an era undergoing profound change.
He also devoted works to the French Revolution and carried out extensive studies of anatomy and the human body,
exploring the relationship between our inner and outer selves, as well as the deeper connection between
human beings and nature.
A passionate book reader with a strong interest in formal and academic studies, Leddi collected
5,000 valuable books, 140 masks and ethnic statues, as well as thousands of traditional craft and farming tools.
Today, these objects form part of the permanent collection of Casa del Principe. His works have been, and continue to be, exhibited in major galleries throughout Italy and Europe,
as well as in prestigious venues such as the Sforza Castle and the Pirelli Skyscraper in Milan, the Italian Cultural Institute in Lyon, and the Palais de l'Europe in Strasbourg to name just a few.

Archivio Piero Leddi is part of the museum network along the historic Salt Roads UVA-Una Valle di Artisti.

Opening times:
Archivio Piero Leddi is open every Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and by appointment on any other day.
