Begun in 1400 and built in the late Gothic style, the brick façade features a subdued pediment, punctuated by four buttresses. The simple façade features a porch, a rose window, and two single-lancet windows overlooking the side aisles. The Latin cross plan has three naves, covered by groin vaults crowned with round arches supported by cruciform pilasters with cubic capitals. The adjacent cloister, also from the 15th century, is decorated with beautiful frescoed lunettes depicting the martyrdom of Saint Maurice. In the 18th century, the church underwent consolidation works, including the modification of the arches between the ribs, once pointed, which were reduced to round arches. Finally, the complex underwent a radical restoration in the 1960s.

In the right nave is a large canvas attributed to Spanzotti, depicting the Assumption. Other notable works include a mid-16th-century canvas of Saint Diego, 17th-century frescoes, and the beautiful Baroque sacristy with its exquisite furnishings.

Located in a panoramic position overlooking the surrounding villages and hills (Cella Monte, Rosignano Monferrato, Terruggia, etc.).
