Lions and Friends of the Po River Join Together for a Festive Afternoon on the River

Casale Monferrato, September 8, 2026. Following the excellent response to last year's first edition, the collaboration between the Lions Club Casale dei Marchesi di Monferrato, the Leo Club Casale Monferrato, and Amici del Po will be renewed for 2026.
The chosen location for the event is once again the pier on Lungo Po Gramsci, which will host the "Merenda sul Po" (Merenda on the Po) on Sunday, September 20, from 3:30 to 6:30 pm. The initiative, organized during the first weekend of the Monferrato Wine Festival, aims to celebrate the friendship and collaboration between volunteer organizations on a late summer Sunday.
At the pier, without reservations, adults and children can participate in short boat excursions along the city's stretch of the Po, accompanied aboard boats operated by the "river wolves" of the association chaired by Massimo Sarzano.
On land, those with a sweet tooth can indulge in a delicious meal, enjoying the delicacies offered by the Lions, right on the riverbanks.
The initiative is promoted by the Casale dei Marchesi di Monferrato Lions Club, chaired by Antonello Berni, and the Casale Monferrato Leo Club, led by Lorenzo Turino, with the aim of supporting the work of the Friends of the Po.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed to Sunday, September 27th, with the same schedule and program.
The Friends of the Po di Casale, reestablished in 2013, are a volunteer association in Casale dedicated to promoting the development, maintenance, and preservation of the culture, landscape, and river traditions of Casale. They do this by offering a wide variety of opportunities to enjoy the Po to all tourists and Monferrato residents.
