Walking the Monferrato in San Giorgio Monferrato

The first event of the autumn season will take place in San Giorgio as part of the event "A stroll through San Giorgio Monferrato. Our town through walking, music, and wine" on Saturday, September 5th. Given the forecast, which still predicts summer heat, the event is scheduled for 5:00 PM, with meeting at 4:45 PM at the Sports Center in Regione Paltra, where the Pro Loco office is located (ample parking is available).
The walk is approximately 6 km long, forming a loop that follows the "Miners' Trail."
At the start, Mayor Paolo Marchisio will welcome walkers and explain the route, which begins on Strada Parona, an area where the Società Anonima (limited company) operated the Cascina Parona quarry. Once in the valley, the route will ascend Strada San Giorgio, which will then be left behind to take a dirt road that leads to Via IV Novembre, from where the historic center of the town (water stage) can be reached. Leaving the center, continue towards the chapel of San Rocco to reach the Cascina Cappelletta area, also affected by cement marl cultivation. Here, you can still find the building with the inclined plane for access from the Gabba & Miglietta company's mine. You'll soon return to the starting point, where the municipal administration will be offering light refreshments.
