The theater as an emblematic place, where the lives of the actors intertwine with those of the characters, where the distance between stage and audience dissolves and the performance is approached with the understanding that everything becomes real, nothing can be fiction in the theatrical world.

Pirandello is commemorated, remembered, and evoked, and rehearsals for a show dedicated to him begin, but they are interrupted and restarted, amid disagreements, delays, and conflicts between actors and director, between the people and the characters they play. Everything that happens normally, within the logic of a theater company, during rehearsals, is shrouded in the exhaustion of actors rehashing tautological images, and the disillusionment of a director aware of the mediocrity of repetitive work. The theater becomes a life lived by actors, directors, technicians, photographers, and costume designers who work, rehearse, invent, and clash, giving the audience that fresh immediacy of reality that Pirandello sought.
Where does fiction end and reality begin? Pirandello wants to open the theatre to life, and life takes on the hues of the show. The actors are living people, who tremble and vibrate with real feelings, and the audience is a living part of the show.
