Oltre l'immaginario_Enrico Colombotto Rosso

Camino celebrates the centenary of Enrico Colombotto Rosso with a day dedicated to art, memory and fantasy.


On 7 December, the Municipality of Camino pays tribute to Enrico Colombotto Rosso, one of the most fascinating and original artists of the twentieth century, on the centenary of his birth. The artist, who chose the village of Monferrato as home and privileged place of his creative research, will be the protagonist of the event “Oltre l’immaginario – Enrico Colombotto Rosso: una giornata di racconto e rivelazione”, an event which will explore both the visionary work and the more intimate and human dimension.
Celebrations will get underway at 9.30 a.m. when it will be possible to make a special visit of the House Museum on Via Serra 72, where Colombotto lived and worked for many years. Until 12.30 p.m. accompanied by Gaetano Giacomelli, president of Fondazione Enrico Colombotto Rosso, visitors can immerse themselves in the rooms which are still full of objects, sketches, collections and atmospheres able to restore the essence of his daily creativity. There is no entry fee but donations are welcome, and the visit aims to offer a close-up meeting with the artist rather than a traditional museum tour.
In the afternoon, from 3 p.m. the event will move to the Enrico Colombotto Rosso Museum on Via Roma 37, no entry fee, for the second part of the initiative: “Il regno del fantastico. L’uomo, l’arte di Enrico Colombotto Rosso”. An open dialog which will bring together artists, researchers, collectors, friends, and witnesses of his human and creative journey: The event will include the participation of:
• Giovanni Bonardi, artist, painter and sculptor
• Massimo Gabba, art collector
• Ivo Guzzon, master bookbinder
• Marina Maffei, journalist and moderator of the meeting
• Elisabetta Palmas, historian of forms and visual arts, with an in-depth look at the Maestro's work
• Pier Giorgio Panelli, artist and critic
• Laura Righi, friend and model of the artist, privileged voice of his most emotional dimension
A tour of the museum will follow, where several of the most representative works of the artist will be on show, offering the public the opportunity to rediscover close-up the imaginative power and evocative strength which characterize the world of Colombotto Rosso.
The initiative is promoted by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Camino and by Associazione Il Picchio, with the sponsorship of Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria, the Municipality of Camino, Fondazione Enrico Colombotto Rosso, the weekly La Vita Casalese, and the same Associazione Il Picchio: a collaboration which bears witness to the vitality and deep roots of the artist’s legacy in the area.
At the end of the day, the public will be invited to a convivial moment: a large birthday cake and light refreshments will symbolically celebrate the one hundred years of Enrico Colombotto Rosso, in a simple, affectionate, and shared atmosphere.
An appointment which is not only a commemoration but the rediscovery of an author able to transcend the boundaries of reality, leaving behind a powerful and highly contemporary legacy
