JazzAle 2026
Alessandria | Musical
From 19 September 2026 to 22 October 2026
19 September 2026, 25 September 2026, 22 October 2026
Miles Davis and John Coltrane were both born in 1926, when jazz was experiencing its classic period and its star was Louis Armstrong. Having developed artistically under Charlie Parker in the bebop era, they later developed two distinct and personal musical languages, becoming in turn role models for future generations. And finally, the key word for this edition of Jazzal has emerged. Over a period that has now spanned a century, jazz has spanned several generations, each leaving its legacy, contributing to an extraordinary evolution. And the story continues today.
In the 2026 program, musicians of different ages present their musical offerings, each drawing on different legacies, from the swing of its origins to the unsurpassed modernity of Davis and Coltrane.

The musicians bring their experience to a musical project of intimate and visionary reinterpretations. On the occasion of the centenary of Miles Davis and John Coltrane, the quartet presents a program dedicated to their music, approaching it as pieces that have profoundly influenced the musicians' artistic journey and the history of jazz. The compositions are reinvented with a broad and suspended breath, always poised between what they are and what they are about to become, often transforming before the listener's eyes.

The show (calling it a concert would be an understatement) takes its name from Giorgio Conte's latest album, featuring the cover art by the internationally renowned painter Ugo Nespolo. It's a musical journey, punctuated by anecdotes and narratives, of his extensive repertoire as a composer (for Mina, Ornella Vanoni, Fausto Leali, Loretta Goggi, Rosanna Fratello, Equipe84, Amanda Lear, Wilson Pickett, and Mireille Mathieu, among others) and as an international chansonnier, with thirteen albums to his credit, who has brought (and continues to bring) his repertoire not only to Italian stages but also to Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France.
Music and words, beyond all fashion, distinguish him through the unique and unmistakable style of a versatile artist (he has published four books of short stories, hosted "Quelli che la radio" on RAIRadio2, created a podcast on poetry, and draws). Able to move, engage, and empower his audience, the press has called him "a humorist who knows how to move and an intellectual who winks at ordinary people." His motto says a lot (if not everything) about his way of being: "...and I continue my life with a taste for everything..."
