Cantarà e Catanaj is the traditional Tortona market dedicated to objects from times gone by, including curiosities, mementos, and small treasures from the past. Along the Via Emilia, three times a year, this beloved event celebrates the charm of well-worn things: not luxurious antiques, but simple objects steeped in history, ready to find a new home.
The Cantarà was the kneading trough, the kitchen cabinet where bread, flour, and anything else that didn't have a specific place were stored; the Catanaj, on the other hand, refers to a collection of old objects, often made of metal, seemingly of little value but steeped in history.
