PROGRAM 2024
The 56th edition of the Pittaluga international guitar competition will open on the 23rd September and will coincide with the conclusion of the 13th International Composition Competition focused on the piece "i Mille regretz" by the 16th century composer Josquin Desprez. 33 works were submitted.
On the eightieth anniversary of his death, the 56th edition of the "Pittaluga" remembers Augustin Barrios Mangoré, a genial composer born in Paraguay who assimilated the technical composition of the greats of the past connecting it to the indigenous Guarani musical rhythm, He was also author, among others, of the first historic recordings on record in the 1930s. The competition will see 20 contestants from many countries around the world.
As a result, several pieces of his vast repertory have been inserted in the elimination and semi-final stages and the docufilm "MANGORE'" produced by Leo Rubin will be screened during the week.
