Special Conservation Area and Special Protection Area of the Orba River

It encompasses the municipalities of Basaluzzo, Fresonara, Predosa, Casalcermelli, Bosco Marengo, and Capriata d'Orba.
It is located in an area predominantly devoted to agriculture. The forest cover is relatively continuous and consists of various forest types. From a floristic perspective, the Orba stream is considered a nationally important area and, in particular, hosts numerous protected species. Regarding fauna, the most interesting group is that of birds. Also of note is the presence of a breeding colony of herons.
