The site, located in the far southeastern corner of Piedmont, borders the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Antola Regional Park, located in the Liguria Region. It lies at an altitude between 593 and 1,669 meters and occupies part of the headwaters of the Borbera River. It features valuable flora and fauna (wolf, salamanders). The landscape is varied, sometimes characterized by gentle contours, with wide valleys and rounded ridges, sometimes rugged and marked by steep slopes where erosion sometimes creates characteristic badlands. An extensive and continuous forest cover occupies more than three-quarters of the surface area. The forest vegetation consists primarily of beech forests, located at the higher elevations of the slopes, followed by chestnut groves, ostrie groves, Turkey oak forests, and downy oak forests. Grasslands and meadows are fragmented into small areas, where grazing is still active.
There are some trails that are part of the larger regional trail network; horseback excursions are also possible along marked trails.
