Restaurant and Hotel
The history of the Albergo Ristorante Monte Boglelio began way back in 1928, when brothers Francesco, Mario, and Paolo Toso, along with Giuseppe Magrassi of Pavia, built the "Ristoro Belvedere" on Monte Boglelio (1,490 meters above sea level) to accommodate the first pioneering tourists from Voghera, Pavia, Tortona, and Alessandria during the summer season. At the time, it was undoubtedly the highest accommodation facility in the area. The business grew successfully over the years, but in 1943, after the events of September 8th, the Toso brothers' generosity was severely tested when, for having hosted escaped prisoners of war, the hotel was destroyed in retaliation by Nazi-Fascist militias.
Paolo Toso, despite further hardships, did not lose heart. He rolled up his sleeves and, with determination, rebuilt the business in the small square of Forotondo, creating a new hotel and restaurant, significantly named "Monte Boglelio" in memory of the work he had done and wasted by the foolishness of war. Today, Paolo Toso's work is continued by his children Bruno and Marisa and his grandchildren.
It offers home-style cuisine that celebrates the flavors of the region.
