Lombardi Lampadari is the perfect example of a company able to update continuously, focusing on quality and professional expertise. The business was set up in 1958 by Giovanni Lombardi: initially, as a small electrical shop in via Savonarola which sells household appliances and some small up-and-down chandeliers which were fashionable at the time. In the 1960s it moves to via Bergamo where the business doubled between the sale of household appliances and lighting. The latter soon takes over. It is among the first companies to allow the people of Alessandria to know design thanks also to the precious collaboration with Pinuccia Merlino, Giovanni Lombardi's wife. In the mid-1980s, the old headquarters in the city center had become small, so the shop is moved to via Montegrappa 50, now considered by all to be the “brightest street of the city”. In those years Gilberto, still a student at university, began working in the family business. Later Stefania, his future wife, becomes part of the team with primarily administrative tasks. In 1990, Gilberto takes over the company and starts to collaborate as an official selling point for “La Murrina” the brand of highest prestige in the lighting field. In the new century, the advent of led lighting leads to the need for new studies and research: this led to Gilberto becoming one of the greatest experts in the industry thanks to courses in production companies and university master's degrees at the Polytechnic of Milan. In recent years, the company has further expanded its horizons with important brands: Flos, Artemide, Luce Plan, Glamora, Skiled, Slamp, Cangini&Tucci and Penta. Customers are offered top range products, chosen by industry experts, which always offer the ideal solution. From the most famous lamps to the exclusive new entries with the latest collections: ceiling lights, wall lights, pendant lights, table lamps and arc lamps, created by the most appreciated designers. In 2013, Gilberto patents an innovative system of all-LED lighting in class A++ called SKYLED ®: a fiber optic and LED starry sky which is installed as a normal ceiling light and does not require construction work.
