The farinata restaurant known to everyone in town as "da Gianni" celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013. In May 1963, grandfather Gianni and grandmother Mirella opened the restaurant in its first location on Via Mazzini. Farmers who came to Acqui for the market, students, and workers for a quick bite, would stop by for breakfast and lunch. People would come for a snack of farinata and then enjoy the dishes with a good glass of wine for dinner. Then, as now, the dishes were, of course, farinata, followed by tripe, stockfish, carpione, robiola cheese, and pan pizza.
A few years ago, it moved to its new location on Via IV Novembre, but after 50 years, the dishes haven't changed, just as the attention to sourcing the finest ingredients and the care taken in preparing them remain unchanged.
All the dishes you can taste at the osteria are inspired by traditional Italian cuisine, particularly that of the Piedmont and Ligurian regions, passed down through generations: farinata, tripe, stockfish, pan pizzas, and typical Piedmontese cuisine. Our recipes share the same commonality: they are prepared with authentic ingredients, mostly local and regional, which give our dishes their distinctive flavor.
Closed all day on Monday and for lunch on Tuesday and Sunday.
