The documentation available “only” dates back 110 years, but Foto Torletti was actually set up in 1893. It all began thanks to the passion of the great grandfather and brother, antiquarians with a workshop in piazza Santo Stefano. The first photography studio was opened by Sebastiano Torletti, a business which was continued by other Torletti, namely Carlo and Maria Teresa, the mother of Giorgio Legnazzi, the current owner, who is the fourth generation. From the early Sixties, the business moves from 14 via Milano to its current location in via Verona 18. The premises on via Milano suffered irreparable damage during the second world war, due to a bombing which destroyed the ceiling where the archive was found; in via Verona the cellar was devastated by the flood in 1994. Something important was saved, namely a collection of 800 photos which document all the works preserved inside the Santa Croce complex of Boscomarengo. In Italy there are only two copies, one of these belongs to Vittorio Emanuele II who had his stamp placed on it. The Eighties and Nineties were characterized by a real explosion of requests, for example for marriage photographs, a situation which consolidated over time. The company has one employee, but it uses the services of various external collaborators.
