It appears that the ancient name was Villa Santa Maria, later transformed into "Villa Mirolia" after the fiefdom with a title of count was granted to the Miroglio family, lords of Moncestino.

Don't miss a visit to:
- Parish Church of Saints Philip and Michael, built in 1764 on the site of an older, demolished church. It has an imposing baroque façade in exposed brick.
- Church of Santa Liberata, built alongside a small stream, at the foot of the charming hamlet of Alemanno houses, whose families traditionally had the privilege of appointing the prior. It was probably connected, as a family chapel or place of worship for the garrison, to the castle of the Miroglio counts.
