Fraconalto is an Italian municipality in the province of Alessandria, Piedmont, located in the Ligurian Apennines between the upper Lemme Valley and the Scrivia Valley, near the Bocchetta Pass, on the slopes of Mount Leco and the Porale Alps. The mountainous area in which the municipality is located was once inhabited by Ligurian tribes who grazed their flocks and sought to secure the best grazing areas. Along with Voltaggio, it is one of the most "Ligurian" municipalities in the Province of Alessandria and maintains very strong ties with Genoa. Part of the municipality is part of the Capanne di Marcarolo Regional Park.
Thanks to the presence of a rich woodland area, the air quality is good and pure, which is highly appreciated especially by summer tourism, mainly due to the availability of second homes. The municipality of Fraconalto offers hiking opportunities thanks to the presence of various trails that pass through the woods, where it is possible to glimpse wild fauna and flora.
