In the 20th century, the town began to make a name for itself, as the birthplace, in 1919, of Fausto Coppi, unanimously considered one of the greatest athletes of all time. The entire last century of Castellania's history is thus inextricably linked to the figure of the Campionissimo: a destination of sorts for secular pilgrimages of athletes and enthusiasts from around the world, the town lives daily to the legend of its most illustrious son. The town's urban structure, particularly over the last fifty years, has evolved around places associated with Coppi: in the upper part of town, starting in 1970, the mausoleum of the brothers Fausto and Serse, the church, and the memorabilia room were built. The town's main street was named after Fausto; his birthplace, which overlooks it, has been transformed into a museum; his grandparents' house has become a restaurant to welcome visitors; Another old house of Coppi's ancestors houses a cycling documentation center, and even the elementary school building has become a multimedia room, an integral part of a museum itinerary that continues through all the streets of the town, with giant photo posters related to Fausto and his story.
