DE.CO. AWARDS FOR NATURAL TRUFFLE GROUNDS

Following the De.Co. awards for the Hazelnut Cake, the Blue Goat Cheese, and the olive groves, the Municipality of Murisengo Monferrato has approved the awarding of Municipal Designations to natural truffle grounds/areas with plants suitable for truffle production registered within the municipal territory.

In this case too, as with the olive groves, the care and maintenance of environments suitable and suited to truffle production constitutes a responsibility and a material commitment of great value. These, in addition to safeguarding the truffle heritage, contribute to the beauty and shape of the landscape, in the perfect and harmonious geometry of natural ecosystems.

Approved by the council on May 8th, the De.Co. awards will be presented to 12 residents of Murisengo during the Trifola nOiR National Black Truffle Fair, held in the centuries-old park of Murisengo Monferrato Castle. The De.Co. proposal for natural truffle grounds was also evaluated and approved by the relevant commission, composed of the mayor, farmer Piero Montagnino, and pharmacist Enrico Druetto.

"Investing in the landscape and protecting the agricultural and natural environments that shape it is a form of high civic and cultural awareness, with implications for landscape and tourism as well as economic benefits," commented Mayor Giovanni Baroero and the council. "With the awarding of the De.Co. awards, the Municipality intends to give value, visibility, and recognition to those who invest in this direction, highlighting their vision and perspectives harmoniously linked to the tradition and beauty of the area."

Sensors were also installed last year in some randomly selected natural truffle grounds in the municipality to monitor the water content and temperature of truffle-producing soils. This project was part of a collaboration between the Polytechnic University of Turin, iXem Labs, and Aps Senza Fili Senza Confini, with funding from the Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria Foundation. This work followed the geological characterization of the truffle-producing macro-areas developed for the Casale Monferrato area (Valcerrina, Valle Ghenza, Vignalese, and Odalengo Piccolo), led by geologist and sedimentologist Alfredo Frixa, with the Municipality of Murisengo Monferrato as the lead partner. The third phase of the project, focusing on the relationship between soil and truffles, will also begin in the coming months.

Finally, among the new features of the Fair is the debut of the newly formed Murisengo Monferrato and Surrounding Areas Truffle Association, with a stand dedicated to its founding members. At the same counter, you can also book a simulated truffle hunt with the precious tabui (hunting dogs).

PAINTING EXHIBITION "DEDICATI..."

A solo exhibition by artist Gigi Allovio, titled "Dedicati...", will be held in the former church of San Michele in Murisengo Monferrato during the National Black Truffle Fair (Trifola Noir), taking place on Saturday, June 6th and 13th, and Sunday, June 7th and 14th.

"Dedicati..." is a journey into the soul of the Monferrato village and its landscape, approached with a gentle gaze that, going beyond "the hedge," recalls the sentiment of "L'Infinito," one of the most famous lyrics of Giacomo Leopardi's Canti. As in Leopardi's idyll, Allovio conveys a strong lyrical intimacy in which the natural landscape is closely linked to the expression of human feelings, with its alternating moods. Not an escape into the irrational or into dreams, as in Romantic poetry, but a broad and profound reflection on time and the destiny of those who traverse it. Starting from the meanders of Monferrato and guided by a feeling and a vision that borders on the intangible, Allovio delicately investigates the surrounding world, extrapolating the invisible to extract elements of refreshment that float lightly, caressing the soul.

The Monferrato landscape glimpses reproduced on canvas, with their soft and gentle tones, will be the Ariadne's thread capable of leading the visitor, with trust and hope, back into the deepest recesses of their own being and feelings. "Remembering to follow the sign of hope, I envelop the flavor of my vision in a world that will be better and, not fearing to remain alone, in painting I will be able to see the image of an unconsummated victory..." Allovio himself wrote of his art.

Set in the evocative setting of the former place of worship, whose walls still breathe memories of ancestral spirituality and worship, the exhibition will be open on Saturdays from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Sundays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Free admission. Parking is available in Piazza della Vittoria and Piazza Lavazza.

CONCERT IN THE CASTLE PARK WITH THE BARTENDERS

Rock 'n' Roll Tribute Band '50s, '60s, '70s... with The Bartenders, Saturday, June 6th, from 9:00 PM, in the park of the thousand-year-old Murisengo Monferrato Castle, during the Trifola nOiR National Black Truffle Fair.

An authentic live show in which the great classics of those years will relive all the energy of rock, in a powerful, bold, and engaging way. From the evergreen legends of Elvis Presley to ZZ Top, from the Blues Brothers to Ray Charles, including Jerry Lee Lewis, Aerosmith, Stray Cats, and many more, the evening promises a captivating musical journey to listen to and dance to.

Giovanni Protti (guitar) and Diego Cavallone (bass) will be playing the scathing guitars and bass, accompanied on keyboards by Nino Fioretti. The more explosive rhythms will be provided by Luca Marocchino (percussion), and the energetic vocals of Roberto Marrone, aka Brown, complete the ensemble. "The Bartenders" are a historic Vercelli band composed of five musicians, with extensive live experience gained through years of concerts, musical collaborations, and artistic projects, both as a group and as a solo artist. Free admission.

CONCERT IN THE PARK WITH EASY JAZZ QUARTET

A journey through the great Italian songbook through jazz reinterpretations

"EASY JAZZ QUARTET" is a musical project that reinterprets the iconic melodies of Italian pop music through the lens of contemporary jazz and bebop.

The quartet transforms songs by composers such as Mina, Vasco Rossi, and Alex Britti, stripping them of their pop guise to reveal their hidden harmonic architecture.
The goal is to create a bridge between the Mediterranean melodic tradition and improvisation, offering a sophisticated yet accessible listening experience.

The project not only looks to the past, but explores the continuity of Italian melody. It demonstrates that today's writing (from that of the great modern singer-songwriters to indie-pop) possesses the same dignity and harmonic strength as the classics, lending itself to being "deconstructed" and ennobled by the language of jazz. It is a dialogue between generations of composers, united by the common thread of Mediterranean elegance.

Lineup (Quartet)

MARA TINTO Voice: narrator and performer, capable of ranging from a confidential register to virtuosic scat singing.

FABIO POLENTINI Electric/Semi-Acoustic Guitar: the harmonious heart of the show, replacing the piano to ensure a more intimate, airy sound.

FRANCO GRIFFERO Double Bass: a pulsating engine, providing rhythmic support and warm, deep frequencies.

ANDREA DALLAVALLE Drums: a light touch, focused on dynamics that respect the elegance of the repertoire.
