ART ROOMS

Alessandria | Cultural

From 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026

Dates

From 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026

Description

The Art Rooms present a collection of works sharing a common denominator: their connection to the city of Alessandria, its surrounding area, and the figures and historical and cultural moments that shaped it.

The exhibition is divided into several sections.

The first is titled "Arthur's Rooms and the Image of the Middle Ages in Alexandria": it displays interesting frescoes dating back to the late 14th century, inspired by the famous Breton cycle and originally from the Cascina Torre di Frugarolo. The path from the entrance to the frescoes allows visitors to reconstruct the image of the Middle Ages in Alexandria through a series of panels highlighting the architectural and artistic traces of the city's past, which date back to its founding.

The Art Rooms host temporary exhibitions throughout the year (for information, please refer to the individual dedicated events).

Currently not on public display are works related to the artist Giovanni Migliara (1785-1837), which illustrate the themes explored by the painter throughout his career and also offer an opportunity to appreciate the distinctive characteristics of 19th-century genre and landscape painting.

From December 18, 2025, to March 15, 2026, the exhibition "Ignazio Gardella - Designing the City" will be open to the public, marking the 120th anniversary of the birth of the great architect who contributed so much to the city of Alessandria.
