IN SEARCH OF GOLD BETWEEN RIVERS AND CASTLES

Day 1

Arrive to Casalcermelli and day dedicated to the history and search for gold, at an educational farm situated in the Orba River Park, only area authorised by the Piedmont Regional Authority.
The farm is home to the historical and interactive museum "ORO DELL'ORBA" which traces the history of the extraction activity from the Romans to the present through finds, documents and equipment. Following the visit, a short and interesting course to learn how to use the various gold searching techniques to then try it directly on the banks of the river. At the end of the experience, enjoy a "merenda sinoira" with local wines and organic products of the same farm.
Dinner at leisure and overnight accommodation in Alessandria in centrally-located hotel.

Day 2

After breakfast, short transfer to Piovera to visit the Castle: already property of the Visconti in the 14th century, it passed to the Balbi of the Republic of Genoa, it retains parts painted in mourning of the death of Napoelon Bonaparte. The route includes a guided tour which will give you the opportunity to discover the history of the Castle through the ground floor and the first floor (or noble floor) with final climb to the tower: starting from the ancient kitchens and service environments, you will also visit the refined bedrooms and the most sumptuous representation halls. Among furnishings, decorations, objects, period costumes and lots of curious items, you will experience directly the eco of great historical facts and people, from the Visconti Family to Napoleon, who intertwined here over the centuries to the ordinary life of ancient fiefs and noble families, such as the Balbi of Genoa, to the current owners, the Counts Calvi of Bergolo.


This third route also includes the preceding ones, namely the individual visit of all the other internal and external spaces between cultural and natural beauty of surprising richness: the collections of the Castle between the first and second floor, the historic Wineries, the Organic Park, the Museum of ancient trades, the Pavilion of the roots, the Hall of the Carriages and Ancient stables, the Atelier of Count Niccolò Calvi of Bergolo.
