Day 1

Arrive to Acqui Terme by own means. First part of the morning is dedicated to the visit of Villa Ottolenghi. The villa is a historical home built in the first half of the 20th century on the hills of Acqui Terme (AL) by Count Arturo Ottolenghi and his wife Herta von Wedekind zu Horst, painter and sculptress fully recognised among the avantgardes of the early 20th century.

Villa Ottolenghi is an exceptional example of 1920s synoptic art which saw the contribution among others of highly acclaimed architects such as Marcello Piacentini and artists like Arturo Martini, Fortunato Depero, Venanzo Crocetti, who worked on the Villa thanks to the patronage of Counts Ottolenghi. The unique and picturesque rooms for private receptions and gala dinners are an ideal location for weddings and events in general; guests can immerse themselves in the magical setting of the park work of the famous architect landscapist Pietro Porcinai who was awarded with the prestigious European Garden Award in 2011.

Return to the centre for a walk in the old part of the thermal town and tasting at the Regional Wine Shop terme & Vino with local products and DOCG wines.

In the afternoon, short transfer to Bistagno with a visit to the Monteverde Plaster Cast Gallery, home to an extraordinary collection of original monumental plaster models of the 19th century sculptor Giulio Monteverde.

Plaster is a material that is both fragile and resistant, provisional and original. A fascinating museum, able to reveal the secrets of the sculptural techniques.

Return to Acqui Terme and free time. We recommend visiting the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta with the Triptych of the Madonna del Monserrat by the painter Bartolomeo Bermejo, or a visit to the Museum of Roman Archaeology in the rooms of the Castle of the Paleologi.

Dinner in osteria with local menu and overnight stay in 3 star semi central hotel.

After breakfast transfer to Alessandria and visit Palazzo Palatium Vetus for the exhibition of artists born in Alessandria and in the province who brought prestige to the history of 20th century Italian art such as Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, Angelo Morbelli, Carlo Carrà.

At the end, possibility for a delicious stop-off at Galleria Guerci, typical late 19th century passageway in one of the De.Co branded pastry shops where you can enjoy the Polenta di Marengo ®.
