FAUSTO COPPI - L'affollata solitudine DEL CAMPIONE
FAUSTO COPPI – THE CHAMPION’S CROWDED SOLITUDE a project by Gian Luca Favetto with Michele Maccagno, Gian Luca Favetto and Fabio Barovero produced by the Fondazione Circolo dei Lettori e Teatro Stabile Torino – Teatro Nazionale The story of a man inside the story of a champion, of a kind and private person who, in life, had already unintentionally become a legend. A man who was always breaking away, who enclosed the history of that strip of south-eastern Piedmont that had forged him, of which he brought the silence, tenaciousness, toil, harshness and sweetness around the world. A recital of words and music that wants to return the figure of Fausto Coppi to the present. Not a memory, but a story that also avails of the pages of those who admired and praised his achievements, from Dino Buzzati to Vasco Pratolini, from Orio and Guido Vergani to Curzio Malaparte. A story of victories and tragedies, of failures and triumphs which line up the first cycle rides as a butcher boy and the first race, the first victory at the Giro d’Italia and the first double triumph at the Giro d’Italia and Tour De France, the longest breakaway and the greatest gaps with which his opponents arrived at the finishing line. And, then, the inseparable relationship with Gino Bartali. And, the Italy of those years. And his being all one with the bicycle, like Paganini was all one with his violin. And, of course, love. And, of course, death, which makes this man in his white and sky-blue jersey a legend, alone and broken away from the pack: his name is Fausto Coppi.
