Bikes on show!
The famous cyclist Fausto Coppi was born in 1919, in Castellania near Alessandria. He was five times winner of the Giro d'Italia and twice winner of the Tour De France. One hundred years on, Alessandria celebrates his birth with a year of projects and initiatives dedicated to him and to bicycles. The exhibition entitled 'Mostra La Bici' is one of the activities programmed by the Municipality of Alessandria dedicated to this mode of transport. The exhibition, devised and promoted by the Cultural Office of the Municipality of Alessandria and curated by Buzzi Serena and Giacalone Caterina, volunteers of the National Civil Service, is dedicated to the representation of the bicycle in art encouraging its use as an ecosustainable and totally practical mode of transport which has always generated innumerable ideas in artists, stimulating their creativity. The exhibition will be split into two parts: one part will be dedicated to several works of civic ownership and the other to contemporary works by young artists from Alessandria called to freely interpret the theme of the bicycle. Thanks to this initiative, the organisers intend to involve the artists in expressing this theme in first person and with free techniques.
The vernissage will be held on 13 December 2019 at 5pm inside the Civic Museum of Palazzo Cuttica. Open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 3pm - 7pm. Exhibition will end on 9 February 2020. Free admission to the exhibition.
