Il Paraboloide
Casale Monferrato stood out in the 1900s as Lime and Cement capital of Italy. It has the merit of having been the first town in Italy to develop the industrial production of cement, thanks to the richness and quality of the monferrato marl suitable to produce natural cement, without the addition of corrective materials.
The many historical testimonies of cement production in Casale Monferrato include the Parabolic silo and the Furnasetta.
The Parabolic Silo, of 1921, is an 11-metre-high structure, built entirely in reinforced concrete. It was the first parabolic silo in Italy and an integral part of the technological cycle of the Italcementi cement plant. The building was used to store clinker, the raw material from which cement is made. The Parabolic Silo was part of a complex that also included two buildings for offices and a low building with chimneys (no longer present).
Can only be visited from the outside.
