Gabriele Basilico - Alessandria 2006
The "vision" of Gabriele Basilico, master of the urban landscape, of those historical and architectural structures of the streets and squares that represent the identifying element of our city, will be on show in the Art Rooms of Via Machiavelli 13 from Thursday 13 July at 6.30 pm, when the exhibition "GABRIELE BASILICO - ALESSANDRIA 2006" will be presented to the authorities and the public. The exhibition encloses fifteen or so photographs dedicated to the City of Alessandria by the great internationally-acclaimed photographer from Milan, who follows a city route with itineraries which start from the centre.
In 2006, Gabriele Basilico was invited by the Chamber of Commerce of Alessandria with a group of another fourteen photographs to create photographic documentation on Monferrato: during this investigation of Piedmont Basilico dedicated special attention to Alessandria, a city which he knows well and is home to many of his dear friends.
A specific catalogue has been published to mark the exhibition and will be presented on 13 July. It avails of texts written by the historian Roberto Livraghi from Alessandria.
Furthermore, on the day of the inauguration, at 9 pm on the square in front of the Civic Library of Alessandria, concert entitled "Raccontare con poche ance libere e una voce", performed by the accordion player Gianni Coscia accompanied by the singer Silvia Benzi.
The exhibition is like a "second" section in the exhibition "GABRIELE BASILICO/RITORNI A BEIRT_BACK TO BEIRUT" inaugurated in the Art Rooms on 16 June.
The two exhibitions will remain open in Alessandria until Sunday 1 October; commissioned by the City of Alessandria they are organised by Azienda ASM Costruire Insieme, in association with and curated by Giovanna Calvenzi of Archivio Gabriele Basilico Christian Caujolle, artistic director; furthermore, Alexala, Local Tourist Agency of the Province of Alessandria, the Order of Architects and the Fondadzione are also collaborating in the initiatives.
Until 1 October, on the occasion of the exhibitions, the Art Rooms museum will remain open from Thursday to Sunday from 3 pm to 7 pm.
