XLV STAGIONE INTERNAZIONALE DI CONCERTI SUGLI ORGANI STORICI DELLA PROVINCIA DI ALESSANDRIA
from 28 June 2024 to 15 September 2024
Description
The cycle of concerts will be held from late June to mid September 2024 and include eighteen events distributed throughout the provincial area and will be joined by Mioglia, in the province of Savona, a few kilometers from our province but belonging to the Diocese of Acqui Terme, with a parish church which is home to a gracious instrument which has been recently restored.
The international nature of the Event will be confirmed, thanks to the presence of several acclaimed long-standing artists from Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Spain and for the first time from Georgia and Finland.
The collaboration with the Conservatory of Alessandria continues, in particular with the "Ensemble" formed by poly-instrumentalists, two of which are teachers of the Vivaldi Music Conservatory of Alessandria, who will present a highly innovative performance: a narration-concert on the life and work of Domenico Zipoli with an informative and humorous edge, with the intent of drawing the public to an important author of the 18th century with an approach which is also educational.
Half of the concerts will see at least one female figure which includes the great organist and musicologist Corina Marti, teacher at the Academy of Ancient Music of Basel; the presence of female performers has always been a point of honor and pride of our Season, considering that in Italy female organists are always a minority compared to male organ players.
There will be many innovative elements, including the addition of new venues such as the Church of Sant'Ilario in Casale Monferrato, the Parish churches of Ottiglio, Mioglia, and Serravalle Scrivia which features organs that have undergone recent restoration, or have already been present for some time such as the Parish church of Castelnuovo Scrivia, of Frugarolo and Castellar Guidobono. The participation of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria in this project-declares the president, notary Luciano Mariano - is through the Call "Musica e dintorni" which intends to promote high level cultural initiatives able to reach a vast and variegated public, enhancing the historical instruments, present in the churches of the province and in the many places which host the concerts. The exhibition of international artists and a rich calendar of appointments make this cycle of concerts a cultural opportunity for both visitors who arrive from other provinces and for residents who can enjoy cultured moments of relaxation.
The Association Amici dell'Organo, which promotes the event, also relies on the attractiveness of instruments which have never been used to date, such as the saxophone, the Renaissance cornett and even the ocarina, of the organ 4 hands which will finally be presented in Alessandria; last year, due to an accident to a hand, one of the two organists was replaced at the last minute by a young soprano, and above all on the attractiveness of the original concert-reading of Castellar Guidobono.
The Season of concerts on the historical organs of the province of Alessandria began in 1978 to allow people to listen to the most beautiful examples of 18th and 19th century organs played by acclaimed European musicians, to promote the spread of such a fascinating and little played repertoire and, at the same time, promote the attention to these ancient organs which are still preserved and to enhance their restoration.
In all this time, in addition to consolidating itself on the territory and achieving ever-greater loyalty from the public and the various Organisations involved, it has received several important awards such as the Medal of the President of the Republic and the Effe Label awarded for two consecutive biennials by the European Community.
As always, the concerts are impartially located in the large and small municipalities of the province of Alessandria, consolidating the numerous synergies and partnerships which have been underway for some time with the different Municipalities and with the Parishes involved, with Organisations and Associations such as the "Vivaldi" Music Conservatory, the Paolo Perduca Association, Unesco Club, Picture gallery of Voltaggio etc. and coming to the aid of users who could be disadvantaged by living in very small and decentralized villages.
