The 2024 edition of “PeM! Festival - Parole e Musica in Monferrato”, the event of meetings, stories and songs, managed by Enrico Deregibus which involves ten different municipalities of Piedmont starting with the leader San Salvatore Monferrato, begins on 24 August and continues until October.
19 events for the 19th edition of the festival will see the participation of musicians, actors and intellectuals such as Giulio Scarpati, Nuzzo and Di Biase, Fast Animals And Slow Kids, Cochi Ponzoni, Garbo, Gianni Biondillo, Nando De Luca, Garbo, Bruno Gambarotta, Ernesto Ferrero, a literary walk and, as already announced in recent weeks, Simona Molinari, Cristina Donà, Andrea Mirò, Lamante, Valerio Lundini, Willie Peyote, Alessia Tondo, the theatrical performance ‘Sconfinare’ and the final of the PeM Music Contest.
A full and varied program, all events are free of charge, for an event which focuses on meetings/interviews with artists and intellectuals who, in the first case, will talk about themselves and perform. A sort of live journalism with performance.
In this edition, more space is given to actors and comedians, such as Nuzzo and Di Biase, Cochi Ponzoni, Valerio Lundini (who will also perform with his band i Vazzanikki) and Giulio Scarpati. In the latter case the evening will be dedicated to Italo Calvino, in association with the Junior Biennial of Literature of Teenagers. Literature will also see meetings with Gianni Biondillo and Bruno Gambarotta, a tribute to Ernesto Ferrero (in association with the Book Fair of Turin, of which Ferrero was the director for many years) and the traditional walk, this year in the moonlight.
As always, importance is given to the musical part which brings together very different genres and generations, from the rap of Willie Peyote to the pop-jazz of Simona Molinari, from the new rock of Fast Animals And Slow Kids and Lamante to singer songwriters of importance such as Cristina Donà and Andrea Mirò, from the folk of Alessia Tondo to the new wave of Garbo, to a character essential to our best music such as Nando De Luca. There will also be the theatrical performance ‘Sconfinare” between
song and readings and the final of the third PeM Music Contest which will see M3carl, Mabi, Mosi, PierC compete and last year's winner Linn will take part as a guest.
“PeM!” is an extended festival which starts from San Salvatore Monferrato and touches down in Lu Cuccaro Monferrato, Balzola, Valenza, Mirabello Monferrato with the Country Sport Village, Alessandria, Pontestura, Rive, Camagna Monferrato and the Ecomuseum della Pietra da Cantoni with the municipality of Cella Monte.
A route among the hills, the rice fields of the River Po, in Monferrato (UNESCO heritage site for the last ten years) and around Monferrato, one hour from Milan, Turin and Genoa.
