A multi-site exhibition in
Camagna, Vignale, Montemagno and Castagnole Monferrato
4 – 8 September 2024


The shared goal of the tourist board of Langhe Monferrato Roero and Alexala, the local tourist board of Alessandria, is to promote an aware and sustainable use of the area through art respecting the landscape, biodiversity, culture and the environment. The authorities will join forces in the operational coordination of Panorama Monferrato, the fourth edition of the multi-site exhibition conceived by ITALICS - the institutional network of galleries of ancient, modern and contemporary art - which has been connecting architecture, art and landscape with the territory and its communities since 2021.
Monferrato will host the 2024 edition of Panorama, among the provinces of Alessandria and Asti, from 4 to 8 September 2024, following the editions of Procida (2021) Monopoll (2022) and L'Aquila (2023).

A challenge which the Regional Authority of Piedmont has been strongly committed to with the Municipalities of Camagna Monferrato, Castagnole Monferrato, Montemagno Monferrato and Vignale Monferrato which will provide the setting for an artistic tour of the highest level, open and accessible to all kinds of public. On the opening days of Panorama Monferrato, from 10 to 7 pm, visitors will have free access to the exhibition sites and can take part in all the events of the Public Program.


Tourism enhancement and promotion is one of the key goals for the Authorities which will play a key role and be part of a project that will see the exhibition make its way among vineyards, castles and baptismal churches, inhabiting the 4 star villages of Monferrato for 5 days and building an untold story able to bring together the ancient, modern and contemporary in a tour which will lead to the discovery of an extraordinary corner of Italy.


As chapters of a single story, the exhibition will cross the four villages of Monferrato, in which it will develop a theme transversal to the ages, useful to complete the journey.
In Camagna Monferrato, 'Lavoro e radici' will concentrate on work, root of gestures and suffering, but also expression of the territory.
In Vignale Monferrato, 'Ritratto and Identità' will develop the portrait as a way of crystallizing, expressing and placing the identity of a person or a community in history.
In Montemagno Monferrato, 'Caducità e morte' will show how the awareness of death has had a constant presence in representing initiatory journeys.
Finally, Castagnole Monferrato, 'Sacralità dell'arte', including lay art, will enhance the possibility of estrangement from everyday life in favor of contemplation.

Curated by Carlo Falciani, with the sponsorship of UNESCO, the Ministry of culture and the Regional Authority of Piemonte, and with the participation of more than 60 artists and 62 galleries of ITALICS, Panorama Monferrato will present contemporary works- many site specific or ad hoc products - 20th century and great renaissance masterpieces. It will also feature the great names who have made the history of international art and very young Italian and foreign artists, with works that range from painting to performance, from sculpture to video-art and installation.
