LUCIO PASSERINI E LE EDIZIONI DE "IL BUON TEMPO"

The exhibition “Lucio Passerini e le Edizioni de “Il Buon Tempo”, set up in the historical rooms of the Civic Library by the Association Il Triangolo Nero and organized with the support of the municipality of Alessandria, the “Francesca Calvo” civic library and ASM Costruire Insieme, will be inaugurated at 5 p.m. on Friday 25 October, in the presence of the artist from Novara. It will run until Friday 6 December, free admission, from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m to 1 p.m. but Tuesday and Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The two Historical Rooms will exhibit different examples of Passerini's editorial creativity spent on the prestigious editions "Il Buon Tempo" created in the 1970s, whether they be the classic artist books that characterize a modus operandi where the text matches the image, or the current experiences gathered, almost to form a collection entitled "Libri Alfabeto".

The "Libri d'artista" comprise a large list of authors of classical poetry as much as contemporary writers and poets.

The "Libri Alfabeto" are the fruit of Passerini's most recent activity of creator/printer and are characterized for the sole use of the beloved print characters which become, no more and no less, elements of pure sign, in organizing and building compositions, playing with the different characters of style and size (the body) of the letters used.

The elegance in the composition, on the printing plates of the presses, also understood as graphic-architectural procedure of the page, is equal to the refined research in the use of papers, colors and, last but not least, that magical balance in pursuing and achieving inventive, intelligent and cultured results as much as the ability, often ironically entertaining, in the choice of texts.

Lucio Passerini has a long history behind him as engraver and, most of all,
as xylographer, and four large sheets representing his architectures of the sign will be on show.

This exhibition, which presents the multiform graphic-editorial activity of Lucio Passerini, follows the important exhibition dedicated to the artist books of Enrico
Della Torre, a master of Italian contemporary painting, also hosted
in the Historical Rooms of the Civic Library of Alessandria.
